Kim Gordon has been writing and performing experimental rock music for more than three decades, in addition to working as a visual artist, writer, and designer. In 1981, she co-founded the band Sonic Youth, for which she sang and played guitar and bass. Her visual art has been exhibited worldwide, and is currently on view at White Columns, in New York City. Body/Head, her new guitar duo with Bill Nace, releases its début album, “Coming Apart,” in September.

Alex Halberstadt is the author of “Lonely Avenue: The Unlikely Life and Times of Doc Pomus” and a forthcoming memoir, “Young Heroes of the Soviet Union.” His Profile of Kim Gordon, “Next Stage,” appeared in the June 3rd issue of The New Yorker.

(The event will include a performance by Body/Head.)
